of his newest compositions, penned especially for the occasion:
“Armageddon Outta Here.” It was a song that dealt with the
excitement many religious people felt about the promise of a
redemption just around the corner. Deaf Lemon had been raised
religiously, and believed that the end of the world might come soon,
but he really hoped that Jesus would take his time and let him enjoy
his singing career for at least a little while longer.
Unfortunately for Hopkins, his singing career would not even
last until the end of the song.
“I’m gonna kill that fucking kid!” screamed Cain, running.
Gareth was right behind him, not because he cared about the
wallet, but because he wanted to see if the kid knew anything about
Dr. Futterman. Also, he was quite buzzed from the beer, which
always put him in an adventurous mood. The kids they were chasing
looked to be about seventeen, and grungy as hell. Real delinquents.
Gareth was unsure which kid it was that Cain was after, but it didn’t
matter because the punks were too stupid to split up. It was like
something straight out of a movie, running through the crowds and
knocking people over. It made him feel ten years younger. Gareth
was having a ball.
Typical of the police, thought Muchoman. Show how incompetent
they are, and they want to throw you in jail. That’s what he was
supposed to get for saving that hot blonde’s life. There was no way he
was going to let that happen, of course, not when there were people
whose lives were in danger. They tried to arrest him, but he had been
too fast, slipping easily into the crowd. Once he turned on his
invisibility, they would never find him.
But wait! Trouble was afoot. There was a commotion nearby. It
appeared that a frightened group of teenagers were being chased by
unscrupulous thugs. How could anyone with a love of youthful
innocence stand for such injustice? He pursued the bastards, careful
not to run too fast and risk catching innocent bystanders in his
powerful tailwind.
